Program Description:
Shanghai Ocean University (SHOU), founded in 1912, is one of the leading universities featuring a range of disciplines in marine sciences, fisheries, and food science and technology. The University has established a good relationship in academic exchange and cooperation with more than 50 colleges, universities, and research institutions from the U.S., Japan, Australia, Russia, South Korea, Vietnam, and others. SHOU has a vibrant and diverse community which consists of approximately 2,000 faculty members, over 12,000 undergraduate students, and about 3,600 graduate students. 

SHOU international student education began in the 1950s. The university has hosted students from more than 60 countries and regions during this time. 

SHOU offers diverse exchange programs to meet various schedules and learning demands of exchanges students. For students who intend to improve their Chinese language proficiency, Chinese language lessons (beginner to advanced) are available. Courses are available to learn Chinese language, there are also courses taught in Chinese as well as courses taught in English. It is recommended that all students take some Chinese language courses while at SHOU to enhance their experience abroad. 

Summer programs are also available at SHOU, typically 3-weeks in length, held in July. For Summer 2020, the program will take place June 29 - July 24, 2020. SHOU is generously offering scholarships for MSU students to cover tuition and housing.
